The
placement cell acts is committed to keeping students abreast with
developments in various fields, in its capacity as a provider of
information on post-graduate institutes and on company profiles.
Every year, it hosts a number of pre-placement talks, seminars,
presentations, workshops and counseling sessions. In 2004, the Placement
Cell organized talks and campus placements by Mckinsey, HLL, Tata
Consultancy Services, Taj Group of Hotels etc.

B.A
PROGRAMME
This
three year degree course of
Delhi
University
provides a holistic environment that stimulates students to not only have
a multi-disciplinary grounding, but also helps them develop their full
potential and provides an enabling context to enter the world of work with
confidence. Besides having the advantage of majoring in two fields rather
than one, the students of this course also specialize in one application
and foundation course, which vary from Human Rights, Gender and
Environment on one hand to Conflict Transformation and Peace building on
another. With an interactive teaching methodology, students of this newly
revised course use critical thinking and research methods that help them
explore both academic and professional avenues with the required skill and
understanding to enter the professional world.

PSYCHOLOGY
This
discipline provides both strong theoretical focus emphasizing on General
Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Psychology,
etc; and practical knowledge about the human psyche. Psychology students
are enable to pursue careers in fields of Counseling, Human Resource,
Social Work, etc.

SANSKRIT
Sanskrit
Department promotes the appreciation of this rich language which is the
backbone of understanding Indian culture and religious traditions. The
thrust areas of the course are Vedic and Upanishadic lore, history of
ancient Indian culture, philosophy and other areas of indology.

COMMERCE
The
Bachelors of Commerce degree can be seen as an excellent preparation in
fields such as Law, Business Management, Financial Management Accounting,
Human Resource Management, Marketing Management and Public Relations. The
degree is designed to
provide the student with a wide range of managerial skills while at the
same time building competence in a particular area. The degree is
capable of getting its pursuant a job right after graduation.

ECONOMICS
One
of the oldest departments in

College
, the Economics Department, with its newly revised syllabus provides
students with both qualitative and quantitative learning in the course of
its three years. With a multidisciplinary approach, including world trends
in finance politics, many optional papers such as Econometrics, Game
Theory, Money & Finance and International Trade are also available to
students. All this makes an Economics graduate from LSR, one of the best
bet for placement.

ENGLISH
The
English Department at
Lady

College
strives to channelize and enhance the interpretative and expressive skills
of students. Students get to study everything from ancient Greek
Literature to Modern Indian fiction and thus learn about the
socio-economic and political conflicts in the world and possible means to
resolve them. The Department also has an ongoing FullBright faculty
Exchange programme with

HINDI
Many
of this department’s versatile faculty members are well-known authors
and seek to blend modernity with tradition. The course is extensive and
students graduate with a thorough knowledge of ancient, medieval and
modern Hindi literature. Teaching, linguistics, translation, event
management, theatre and mass communication (print or electronic media) are
nodal aspects of their interest.

MATHEMATICS
The
pedagogical practices of this department include informal classroom
interactions, paper presentations, quizzes, etc. The papers are a blend of
Pure and Applied Mathematics. Applied papers of Probability, Mathematical
Statistics and Linear Programming provide students with a vast scope of
work as analysts. These graduates are absorbed by Consulting Firms,
Banking and Insurance sector, IT Solution Providers, etc.

STATISTICS
Statistics
is a field which is continuously evolving as is evidenced by its growth in
fields like natural sciences, actuarial sciences, applied mathematics,
etc. Various human as well as computer aided statistical tools are used to
make sense of a plethora of data. A few sectors which have been absorbing
statisticians are – Banking, Consultancy, IT Solution Providers,
Insurance Sector, Medical sector, etc.

HISTORY
We
have some of the most distinguished faculty among the History teachers of
Delhi
University
. An attempt is made to encourage students with multiple perspectives on
various historical themes and to enable students to analyze those themes
critically. History Honours graduates from LSR have excelled in fields
such as Bureaucracy and Management, Theatre, Mass Communications, NGO’s,
etc.

ELEMENTARY
EDUCATION
Bachelor
of Elementary Education is the first integrated professional degree
programme for elementary school teaching offered by an
Indian
Central
University
. As a model of innovation within the mainstream Teacher Education
programme, it provides a rigour to develop assertive, competent,
confident, reflective and sensitive teachers with a high level of
professional commitment. It is a four-year integrated professional
programme of elementary teacher education aimed at fulfilling the need for
professionally qualified elementary school teachers.

PHILOSOPHY
The
Department of Philosophy enables the students to explore fundamental
questions of human existence as they clarify and test their beliefs and
values. The students are exposed to both Indian and Western Philosophy,
ethics, logic and aesthetics. These graduates can be placed with media
houses (both print and audio-visual) and NGO’s.

SOCIOLOGY
Sociology
provides a holistic learning experience to its students. Field work,
workshops and seminars are an integral part of the curriculum. The skills
acquired in this process of learning can allow students to choose options
ranging from industry and corporate sector to the civil services, the NGO
sector.

JOURNALISM
The
Journalism Department helps students pursue careers in fields like
Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing and Media Management. Students
are encouraged to intern at media houses whose work is of particular
interest to them. Several of our Alumni are placed in various National
Television channels like CNN-IBN, NDTV, Doordarshan, ZEE and various
national Newspapers like Hindustan Times, Indian Express, etc.

POLITICAL
SCIENCE
As
a discipline, the Political Science Department works on understanding
complex societies and their politics both at the global and personal
level. It reflects changing aspirations of women in society and state.
These graduates have constantly performed well wherever they may be as
lawyers, teachers, professors, social activists, media persons, NGO’s,
civil servants, etc.
